Product details
Kilim (or 'palas') is one of the oldest Iranian handicrafts, a type of flat, pileless floor covering woven from wool warp and weft (usually from sheep or goats). Unlike carpets or rugs, which are piled and knotted, kilims have a flat, smooth weave, and their front and back sides are similar. This characteristic makes them lightweight, highly durable, and insulating against cold and heat. Kilims are often woven with geometric, abstract designs and natural colors (from plants like madder) and are a symbol of Iran's nomadic and rural culture. Today, kilims are used not only as floor coverings but also as wall hangings, table runners, doormats, or even modern decor.
