Product details

Enamelling brings together earth, fire, the kiln and skilled hands to decorate metals and sometimes glass, ceramics and pottery. Dating to 1500 BC, the craft first emerged in Iran according to archaeological research. Today, copper predominates in Isfahan, its traditional center, but one of the oldest enamelled metal objects is an Achaemenid gold armband held at London's Victoria and Albert Museum. The craft reached its peak under the Seljuks, when brass and enamelled vessels were exported. In the Safavid period, miniature designs and silver vessels became more prominent. Today, Talfigh Honar offers enamelled works to keep the authentic Iranian spirit alive in modern society.
