Product details
Dried lime is used as a seasoning in Middle Eastern cuisine, especially Iranian dishes. Fresh fruit is mustard-colored and intensely sour, making it generally unsuitable for eating on its own. It is sun-dried until the interior turns black. The outer peel ranges from yellow-brown to black. Available whole or ground. In traditional medicine, dried lime has been regarded as a digestive tonic, a remedy for flatulence, an appetite stimulant, an antiseptic, and a remedy for headaches, coughs and cold symptoms. It is described as high in vitamin C, and some sources recommend its infusion for lowering blood pressure and even blood lipids.
